Living Desert Exhibit

This is a must see if you visit Palm Desert, CA.  The Joshua Tree National Park is another must see but it is a longer trip. 

Mardi Gras

The Sazerac is said to have been invented in New Orleans.  Try to find the bar that makes the best Sazerac.

I learned that Mardi Gras is a family event.  The parades don't go through the Bourbon street, in the French Quarter.  There step ladders are everywhere for kids to sit above the heads of the adults.  Kids get special treats from the floats.  There is alcohol on the floats however.  

Nuclear Fuel Rods

If you told me I would buy a condo on a barrier island four miles from a nuclear power plant, I would have said you were crazy.  After the nuclear meltdown in Japan, they offered us a price we could not refuse. 

Universal's Harry Potter

Get there early to visit this section of Adventure Land.  The main ride is excellent and perhaps better than the Spiderman ride.  The prices are amazingly high as well.

Another sunny day in Ireland.  The Cliffs of Moher were great to see. 

My favorite Irish pub

Gertie Brown's Pub in Athlone, Ireland.  There was a big block of wood burning in the fireplace.  The obligatory Guinness everyday was an automatic 17 grams of carbohydrates.

Perth: The Black Watch Museum

This amazing painting depicts a true event that occurred to the Black Watch.  They stood fast as the ship was literally breaking apart underneath them.
