Two Months on Intermittent fasting with weight the same but Hgb A1c better.

I like intermittent fasting for 12-17 hours because it lowered my
Hgb A1c by 2 points.
It is not as difficult as I thought.
As with today I found if I get engaged in writing I can extend the fast to
11 PM Sat to 3:00 PM Sun
 16 hours

I think my belly is thinner.
This is why a BIA may help me not despair.

Pounds of fat by 4 point electrode BIA
56.5 lbs after 5 week trip
61.8 lbs when I started Intermittent fasting
57.5 lbs today after 2 mos. of IF

I went on a trip 8/23 to
Nassau 7 days till 8/30
Eastern Europe Tour 14 days 9/3 to 9/17
NYC and Atlantic City 9/4 to 9/26
Oceania Montreal Cruise  9/27 to Oct 8
Returning to Topeka, KS on Oct 8, 2019

Since 2011 I have been on LCHF diet

New result next day

I learned to play C, F and G7 chord today

As an Alzheimers patient I wanted to learn a new skill to socialize.

I purchased a Ukulele for myself for Christmas.

I finally got around to watch a youtube link:

How to play the Ukulele in 5 minutes.

Then I found a link to play a song with only two chords.

Row Row Row Your Boat.

It is sweet and such a coincidence
for me because
this is the first song my mother taught me to sing.

I received a basic instruction manual with my Ukulele.

I could not decipher it.

I tried to learn how to play guitar in college.
I learn to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
I quit right afterwards.
It was too difficult for me and hurt my fingers.

I like to sing and strumming a few chords on a Ukulele seemed the perfect instrument.

I had no memory of  the chords for Twinkle Twinkle.

Now to remind me in the present:

Review of the book Defeating Alzheimers

The first time Mr McNear went to a Doctor was in 2010
after two years of suicidal ideation.
Memory problems started after the start of the depression.

In 2009 the author began to notice problems with memory.
His book Defeating Alzheimers  was published in 2018

Excerpt below from Ad promotion

I reviewed the above book.
Here is my Amazon review:

Twelve Excerpts from the book

ONE

My main criticism of this book is there is no clear time line.
I also have found this in other Alzheimer books.
This is why I wrote and am writing a series of yearly books.

I am waiting for when I forget I have Alzheimers Year One

Traveling with Alzheimers Year Two (in publication)

Pursuit of Happiness with Alzheimer's Year Three (writing)

TWO

I don't think the author ever had an office visit
with a neurologist

The author had a CT scan and anemia.
It begs the question where are the results?
What was his Vitamin B 12 level?
A low level of B 12 is a treatable cause of dementia.

THREE

The Psychiatrist suggested a diagnosis of
 Mild Cognitive Impairment
It would be nice to know what year this was.
The author writes he first noticed problems with his in 2009.
When did the Psychiatrist give him this diagnosis.

FOUR

Suicidal ideation for two years.
The explanation of improvement of his memory problems is from depression improving as his financial stress has decreased.
Which Doctor is he referring to in 2010?
He still today takes medicine for depression.

                                  FIVE

Diagnosis by Social Security Doctor
Pre-senile dementia or Early onset Alzheimer's

What year was this?
I first noticed mental diminishment in 2014.
I easily passed my mini-cognitive exams by my private internist.
I have had four day long examinations of my cognition by three groups of separate of psychology teams.
One in Colorado 8-15-16
Two in Florida.  April 2017 and October 2017
One in Kansas at KUMC memory research center March 27, 2018

This is how the diagnosis of Alzheimer's is made.
Serial cognitive exams.

The scans and genetic results contribute but can be false positive.

SIX

The author never was examined by
Dr Dale Bredesen

SEVEN
Met Dr. Bredesen not examined

EIGHT

Patient did not give lab results proving some nutritional deficiencies.

NINE

Where are the results of the additional testing

TEN

Author says that reading his book is not a substitute for seeing a Doctor.
I suspect lawyers have him put this in the book for liability reasons, since he treated himself it seems on his own.

ELEVEN

Author did was not followed by AHNP doctor as he lived in Mexico

TWELVE

Author did not have a regular physician but implores readers to get one again for liability reasons I suspect.

My theory of the physiology for weight regain in reduced obese.

Dr. Tro says I am confused about obesity physiology.

This surprises me for the following reasons:
1-We both passed the American Board of Obesity Medicine
2-I have been on LCHF or Atkins since 2011 when I read Taube's book Why we get fat.
3-On Dr Tro's advice I started Intermittent Fasting since Nov, 9, 2019

I suspect Dr Tro does not know the central vs peripheral effect of insulin.

Dr. Frank Greenway review link

I am happy with my Intermittent Fast results on Hgb A1c going down two points.

What I question is with a 1,000 calorie deficit daily, I expect to lose at least one pound a week.

Calorie deficit on IF but not much weight loss? link

Dr. Tro tells me not to count calories.

I told him I don't normally count calories. I have been dieting since I was 15.  I have a good idea how many calories are in food.

I do it occasionally if I gain weight as I did at one point on IF.

I showed those results on twitter at Dr. Paul Mason's request because he didn't think if was possible to gain weight on low calorie count.
Dr. Paul Mason never got back to me. In fact nobody does except Dr. Tro thus I am making an effort to show I have the physiological facts to support my Sponge Theory:
Reduced obese have
1-Billions of shrunken fat cells that never go away
2-This tells the brain it is starving
3-To prevent starving thermogenesis is turned down
4-Ghrelin is stimulated to cause severe hunger

Dr Tro won't tell me which of the four facts above are not true.
Instead he says I am confused about the physiology of obesity.

Validation of Sponge Syndrome link

Tro wrote this twitter:

I presented Dr. Tro with what was written by
Stephan J. Guyenet in his book
The Hungry Brain 2017:

This is my post from 21 hours ago.

Then we had this exchange on twitter:

I believe I understand the basic concept of LCHF or Atkins

Get into ketosis for decreased hunger and to burn fat.

However, that wears off after a nine months for most people.

On internet people say they know many people who have maintained 10% weight loss for greater than 5 years.  I asked people to connect me to them on Twitter. So far I only have a list of 20 who have maintained on LCHF.  None from Dr Tro's clinic that I know of.

Until Dr Tro shows me his one year, two year or five year data I think I will pass on his kind offer of a free class.
I would rather hear why my physiology discussed above is incorrect.

update trials of Alzheimers

The best part of the day is when I have a bowel movement.   Recently started Miralax. I found MOM too harsh. Pacing helps but I get exhaust...
