Dealing with nostrums for Alzheimer's disease on social media

Received this today on twitter

Out of respect for Nigel I watched this 7 minute you tube video.  I enjoyed it.
Nobel winning scientist in the memory field.

In the video are listed several ways to prevent non-Alzheimers AGE-RELATED memory loss.

1- Walk 2-3 miles a day to release osteoclacin from your bones.  This will enhance memory.

I try to exercise an hour a day with weight lifting and walking. I walk 8-10 flights a day.

2- Stay healthy by treating hypertension and diabetes.

My systolic blood pressure stays between 100-120 on cardiazem (which I take for atrial fibrillation)
and ramipril (which I take for DM to prevent kidney disease.
I take Invokana, Victoza and Metformin for DM and weight loss maintenance.
I take blood thinner Xarelto to avoid stroke with my AF
I take  intramuscular testosterone  and Viagra for my bones and sex life.
I take 10 mg citalopram for depression.
I stopped atorvastatin for the last two months and replaced it with niacin and Zetia for cholesterol

3- Stay socially active

I am a member of a weekly mens group.
We have frequent pergola parties in our back yard.
I keep in touch with my three kids weekly.
My wife and I travel on cruise twice a years and meet great new people on the ship.

4- Stay cognitively involved

I am eight months into my second book on Alzheimers which is about the second year since I learned I had Alzheimer's
I follow politics closely on a daily basis.
I go on twitter and blog almost every day.

5- Learn new skills

I am a lifelong learner.
12-10-15 Passed the American Board of Obesity in order to go out of retirement and start clinic
9-27-08  Passed the National Lipid Association boards
Passed the Geriatric exam 3 times during my career.
Passed the Infectious Disease boards after doing a 2 year fellowship during my 40's.
Learned to speak and understand Spanish at Guadalajara Medical School.
I periodically restudy it to be able to communicate. Certainly never was fluent.

My first Alzheimers book, I am waiting for when I forget I have Alzheimers, YEAR ONE was written because the personal stories people wrote about their AZ on the market now is all gloom and doom.
I wanted to write a book to show folks AZ is not the end of the world.
I know I will finish YEAR TWO book and after such a positive visit to Dr Swerdlow I believe I will be able to write YEAR THREE.
Apparently on my follow up cognitive test I improved or at least did not decline and I write now to show people there is hope for the short term if you make the diagnosis early and start having fun and not wasting time on social media nostrums.

"not for a vested interest in having cognitive decline".
