This is one of those great opportunities 
to visit someone you met on cruise, 
formed a very close friendship 
during 112 day Holland America World cruise.

I visited my ex-patriot friend we called China Tom

He moved there decades ago and married a Chinese woman from there.
She was dentist and wanted green papers to go America.  
He was a great friend and told me everything about his life.
He would say, ask me about anything. 
He liked to talk about his whole sex life during his 80 years.
He did not have Alzheimer’s.
  We would met for breakfast and discuss all topics on the ship.

We visited the apartment that he purchased. We met his best Chinese friend who help escort us around the city in his car and took us to an expensive and exclusive dinner.

During a 112 day cruise Holland America Cruise 

we had a table each morning to hold court. 

Tom would get the table before the dining room opened.

The daily morning event was very popular with the men. 

I think one woman overheard us and voiced a complaint to the Captain.

The Captain showed up one day to check us out. 

He didn't anything about a complaint. 

The Captain found us amusing.

I visited my ex-patriot friend we called China Tom in Tianjin.

What fun to remember this all again as I write it down.

Tom had a close  Chinese friend who learned to be a teacher in California
to teach English back in China. 
 Tom financed the purchase of his private school.  His friend became very wealthy from this venture.  The salary in USA  was minuscule in comparison.  China was the land of opportunity not the USA. 
I learned that the wealthy parents would be allowed to have a third child and just pay a fine. 
Tom's friend drove us around the city and took us 
to a private dinner for a feast 
with a lazy Susan table at a fancy restaurant.
